Cloves Market Update – October 2025

The global clove market is entering a sensitive phase as supply of good quality material becomes increasingly limited.

Price

Clove prices remain firm with slight range movements, supported by reduced availability of Indonesia origin.

Supply

  • Indonesia: Production this season has dropped significantly, and good quality cloves are becoming less available. Indonesian cloves continue to be highly valued for their high oil content and premium quality.

  • Madagascar: The harvest is expected to start soon, but cloudy weather, scattered rainfall, and limited sunshine have caused delays and restricted proper drying. This could slow fresh arrivals in the near term.

Demand

Indonesian cigar factories, which had been buying at a slow and steady pace, are now returning to the market to secure good quality cloves as supplies tighten. Export demand is also closely monitoring developments in Madagascar.

Our View

With Indonesian good quality cloves becoming less available and domestic demand starting to pick up, we see potential upward pressure on prices. We recommend buyers secure their Indonesian requirements early to ensure supply and avoid higher replacement costs.
